Ring Dance Portraits. . . April
28, 2012
G.
Michael Photography will be creating Ring Dance Portraits at this
years' dance. Ring Dance is always a special occassion. . . but
this year even more so as the Dance moves back into the newly
refurbished Memorial Student Center. Ring Dance is a time-honored
tradition observed by
generations of Aggies. Your portrait will be created in front of
a huge replica of the Aggie Ring. This is a portrait that you
will enjoy now and that will surely become one of your most cherished
memories of your time at Texas A&M University. This ring
replica is used only one time each year. . . . . at the Ring Dance.
So this is the only chance you will ever have to create this
once-in-a-lifetime portrait. DON'T MISS OUT!
Online
Presales of Portrait Packages has now ended. You may still
purchase your portrait package at the Box Office in Rudder.

Why Is Ring Dance such an Important
Milestone?
Ring
Dance began on May 15, 1936 and was conceived by a group of seniors who
decided that since the Aggie ring is the traditional mark of one whose
days on the campus are soon to be over, a dance with the ring as the
predominant theme would be appropriate as a final function of the
Senior Class. The
event is now sponsored by the Class Councils Organization as a major
fundraiser for the class gift. As each Senior
steps into the replica of the Aggie Ring, they can turn their ring so
that the class year no longer faces them-it faces the world. Seniors
are able to reflect over the past years spent in Aggieland and
anticipate the future. As each person steps away from the ring, another
two step in, continuing the tradition that will go on as long as there
is an Aggieland. For many years now, it has also been a tradition
for countless couples, to share a kiss inside the ring before their
portrait is taken. As an additional point of interest, hundreds
of marriage proposals have been made and accepted over the years by
couples in front of the Ring! However, it is not just couples who
choose to have their portrait created in front of the Ring.
Consider having your portrait done with a group of friends or as
an individual.

Arrive
Early. . . . Get a 5x7 Bonus Print!
The photography
station will be open from 3:00 pm to
12 midnight. To avoid waiting in a line at the photography
station once you arrive for the dance, we highly recommend that you
consider coming in between 3:00 and 6:30 pm to have your Ring Dance
Portrait created. Many students who plan on attending the dance
find it very convenient to stop in
for their portrait prior to heading out to dinner. If you can
come early, we will make it worth the effort. The first 100
couples, individuals, or groups to arrive between 3:00 and 6:30 pm will
receive an additional
5x7 print added to their portrait package. Additionally, these
early arrivers will also receive a 15% discount on any reorders they
may choose to place after receiving their portrait package.
When will I receive
my portrait package?
Completed portrait packages will be mailed directly to the address you
provide to the photographer when you check in for your portraits.
We anticipate that the mailing date will be May 15th. Since
this will be after the date most students are required to move out of
their campus dorms or apartments, we recommend that you be prepared to
provide us with an address where you will be receiving mail throughout
the summer. In the past, many students have chosen to provide us
with their parents' address and this seems to work well. Please
consider carefully which mailing address you would like your portraits
to be shipped to before arriving to have your portraits taken.
Can I pay for my portraits the night of the
dance?
If you forgot to
prepay for your portrait package when you purchased your dance tickets,
you will still be able to purchase a package when you arrive at the
Hilton. However, this will mean standing in 2 separate lines when
all you really want to do is to start enjoying the event.
Therefore, we do encourage you to buy your package early.
